At last, real progress on the shop building! And I get to operate a skid steer for the first time in 30 years. That was fun! Power and water are extended to the shop and FINALLY the concrete is poured! After that, I do some grading next to the new slab with my Kubota and … Continue reading Building the Shop: Power Concrete and More!

Prepping the Pool House Slab Form
This project began with moving the old pool house around to the other side of the pool near the garden to become a tool shed. After relocating the pool pumps building a temporary home for the breaker panel and pool controls, it was time to get the slab form ready for concrete.
Building a Raised Garden Bed
These two raised garden beds were built to replace one long one that was only one foot tall. We decided we wanted taller versions this time and made two beds, so it was easier to move from one side to the other without having to walk all the way around. They may be taller than most raised garden beds but we love them this way!

After months of non-stop rain and cold weather, Spring finally brings warmth and a break in the rain, so that progress can be made on my new shop building, but I've got to work fast!

Building a Tractor Shed for My Kubota
Soon after I got my Kubota L3901 (A.K.A. "Big Orange"), I knew I wanted a place to keep him out of the weather. My best option at the time was to build a lean-to shed off the back of my carport. The challenge for building this shed was getting the headroom and space I needed within space available.
Clamp-on Pallet Forks: Are They Right for You?
Even though my front-end loader has a quick attach coupler, I wasn’t sure I wanted to spend the big bucks on a set of quick attach pallet forks so I opted to start with some very affordable clamp-on forks from Titan, purchased through Amazon. I quickly discovered just how useful pallet forks can be and bought a set of quick attach forks about six months later.
Adding Chain Boxes to My Kubota Tractor
If you're a tractor owner, then you probably know how handy it is to have a logging chain with you for both the expected and unexpected towing tasks. Problem is most tractor brands give little thought to storage on their tractors. Sure, there's usually a small tool box for light weight items, but nothing big enough or strong enough for a 20-pound chain. Well this, is my solution to that problem.
